House Points
The site has records of all points added and deducted,
who did so, and the reasons entered. Please always
enter a reason to help us insure all teachers act
responsibly.
While you do not have to stick religiously to this,
the following is a general set of guidelines to help
see that point handling is somewhat consistent across
the school staff. As with grading there is room for
roleplaying leeway. A "nice" teacher might naturally
tend to give out more for the same thing than a strict
teacher, and favorites (as well as scapegoats) among
students and houses may exist. What follows is the
maximum suggested values for awards and
penalties. You can always add/subtract less with no
bad karma. While situations for going over these
numbers may arise, in general to reflect the teacher's
personality, consider awarding at these values to be
"high"
School Work (note that school work is a part of every
day life and it is optional, not required to award
points for academic performance):
Quizzes: Maximum of 1 point per question answered
correctly or 5 points per person
Tests: Maximum of 10 points per person for a perfect
score. (Possible 15 for a really lengthy midterm or
final)
Essays (see School Work section for OOC/IC
distinctions): variable with OOC length required, but
not to exceed 15 points for a long term paper that may be over a real Out Of Character page.
3-5 points for a couple well ritten OOC paragraphs.
Homework: Maximum of 1 point per question correct
Bonuses (Should you chose to give them. To highest
scoring house, student, etc): not to exceed the
maximum value of the assignment itself. The number of
students per house IC is balanced, however OOC it may
not be. Therefore it is recommended to use the
average house score rather than raw total of points
when calculating how well a given House did on an
assignment.
