The following are things in character backgrounds which require staff approval:
Apply for canons here.
Characters that are anything other than human (Including Veela and part-Veela)
Relatives of any character named in the Harry Potter books (advised against but will be considered)
Animagus
Children of Death Eaters (Since the requires establishing the existence of another D.E.)
Prefects (Player maturity in addition to C qualifications will be judged)
Head Boy/Head Girl (decision will not be made lightly, as there is only ONE of each at the school)
Knowing how to cast any of the Three Unforgiveable Curses
Physical fighting abilities (example: martial artist, swordsman)
Familiars of a magical species. (phoenix, kitsune, etc), or with magical abilities
Teachers (Not to be taken lightly, see info here.)
Aurors, Order of the Phoenix Members, Death Eaters (or students with Death Eater parents)
Parseltongue or any other abnormal ability.
The following items require staff approval to own:
Invisibility Cloaks
Dark Arts items
Magic Items not found in the JKR books
Weapons of any kind (in most cases even if approved your character will need to have snuck it into the school and will get in trouble if caught with it)
Membership in Dumbledore's Army is earned through roleplay only. This means you can not apply through the site.
You must be invited by a current member In Character. We're hoping this will encourage everyone to play with new people. It also is meant to reflect the way membership grew in the book. Original members met and invited new people.
When in doubt, apply for approval! It's better to apply rather than us have to ask you to apply!
All approval MUST be done through the website applications for character approval.
This is the most convenient method for everyone, and works great for keeping records.
