~*The Library. It seemed to be where Melody found herself when she wasn't..working, and wasn't under the tutelage of one of her in or out of class teachers. The common room just somehow, still felt strange. She had never liked the unsupervised company of her peers, a habit born of her years among muggles most likely. So tonight like many before, she sat at her usual table with a small assortment of books spread open. Currently, she was idly flipping through "Magical Me" with an uninterested expression on her face.*~ *He walked into the Library to get a book he needed for a spell, when he saw her studying he had not seen her for quiet some time, but he had been hearing things that he did not like, he walked quietly behind her* Hello Melody ~*She wasn't particularly engrossed in the book. It was after all not a terribly engrossing thing, but none the less she didn't notice the approach of someone behind her until the voice sounded, and her form flinched with the start. Her eyes shot behind her, nervousness her first reaction before she even saw who it was. And once she did recognize the man looming over her, it did little to change her unease.*~ Mr Hawkins. ~*She replied quietly.*~ I didn't know you were at the school now. Certain Events have come to play that needed me to be closer to the school *He moved and sat across from her and looked at her as he folded his hands on the table* How are you doing in your classes? ~*Her eyes widened in surprise at his words. It could have been taken for alarm that such misdeed were going on about her school, or it could have been recognition or guesses at what events he spoke of. She watched him sit across from her uninvited, and felt cold fear in the pit of her stomach as she kept her eyes on the books about the table. His opening question was one Crouch had sometimes started with.*~ I'm doing well sir. I'm trying my best to fit in here. ~*That much was the honest truth. Doing her best to win a place with her new family, and putting much effort into her studies. Not that the book before her evidenced it, though some of the others scattered about the tabletop were Arithmancy and Care of Magical Creatures.*~ *He smiled* Thats good to know *He watched her, he could see she was getting flustered he wondered why* I talked with Professor Dumbledore a while back I asked about you, he said that you have been spending your time with a fellow Slythrin named Trevor *he watched her to see how she would act about that* ~*Her nervousness shouldn't have been too hard to guess at really. He better than anyone knew her history, and knew that she had spent her childhood being terrorized by men of his calling for the crime of her last name. She had after all nearly died of fright when she ran into him at Hogsmeade.*~ You..asked about me? ~*She inquired submissively, fluttering her gaze up to him for a single inquiring moment before it was averted again. It really wasn't all that shocking. She was used to being watched. They'd told her they would be.*~ Yes sir. ~*She nodded without looking at him again, but seemed no more or less ashamed of herself than before with the raising of the subject.*~ Trevor has been very kind to me. Well *he smiled* I suppose it is better then spending your time with Draco Malfoy *He looked at her and smiled* I am glad you are making friends here Melody ~*It was surprise now which urged her to look up at him, and held her eyes to him longer as she'd ask*~ You don't like Draco? ~*He was the defacto Prince of her new family after all. Not that she was going to tell anyone they should worship him. Trevor did more than enough of that for an army, and she had her doubts as to how deserved it was.*~ Thank you sir. ~*Dropping her eyes again.*~ *he rab at her reaction about Malfoy, that was not a good sign he would have to watch that more carefully* No Melody I do not like the Malfoy Clan, though they hid behind the face of good wizardy the serve the darkside and the Dark Lord *he looked at her a momment* Melody have you heard anything other then that coming from him or anyone else ~*She kept her frown to herself, knowing that there were a great many she associated with who fit that description. But mostly knowing the great degree to which her mentor admired the head of the Malfoy family, and uncertain if he would have liked her keeping silent on the slander to them. Even now, when he was absent she still worried on if Trevor would approve.*~ I'm sorry sir, I don't understand. ~*The honest truth*~ Anything other than what about what? Melody listen to me, You have to be careful who you are friends with, your last name is already linked to him, now I don't see you as one who would follow him, but you don't want to start down that path, men like Lucius Malfoy may claim that they are great and powerful that they love all wizards, but in there hearts they crave but one thing, power, power over Muggles and Wizards, that is why they answered the call of Voldemort, he was going to give them that power, he has returned and is seeking that again, but the power he offers them is not a good or just one it is pure evil, to kill muggles at well, to kill any wizard that is not a pure blood by there standards, that is what they stand for control over all and death to thoes who are bellow them ~*"You have to be careful who you are friends with." It sounded like something someone might tell another student about her. Melody had spent her life seeking acceptance and approval. She had found it in the form of Trevor's guidance, Slytherin's fold, and Domino Jinx's almost paternal airs towards her. Unfortunately one of the order who she had been berated by her whole life could probably offer her no words to make her turn her back on that. Who was to say at this point if even Snape who she'd so wanted to please upon her arrival could do so, when Jinx had stepped in to fill the role the vulnerable young girl had been all but begging the Potions master to play?*~ I have heard quite well what everyone says about You Know Who. And I've never even met Lucius Malfoy. ~*Though she guessed in time she would.*~ Can't you people just leave me alone and let me finally enjoy having people who like me? ~*Her voice tight, close to tears.*~ Isn't anything I ever do good enough for you?? Melody, I do not wish to see you start down the path that you may start to follow, you have a chance to be a great witch, but if you choose a path that leads you to the Darkness, you will prove every thing that has ever been said wrong about you, And i am not going to leave you be, I am not going to watch you start down the path, if I can avoid it, you have to ask yourself one thing, ask your heart, can you really do all that I said that the Dark ones do, Kill muggles and mixed wizards without mercy or care, because that is where the darkside leads to, Pain not glory or riches only pain, you may get power along the way but inside you are empty because all that is inside you is darkness like a large empty hole that can never be filled with mindless killing or death it eats away at you till there is nothing left of who you were except the pain. What PATH am I following? ~*She demanded bitterly, voice growing more and more uneven as she was afraid she might burst into tears here in the middle of the Library. He'd probably like that.. it seemed to be all aurors ever wanted from her, to make her cry.*~ I don't want to kill anyone. ~*She protested with her gaze still fixed on the table, burning in her eyes.*~ All I want is a normal life without you people constantly telling me how I'm too close to my parents' history. ~*Her eyes at last shooting up with his final words, shining with those tears so close to falling, as her words yet were hateful.*~ What would YOU know about empty holes inside you? A heart full of darkness! You are describing what my entire life has already BEEN up until now. Full of loneliness and pain. These people you see as my path to that misery I see as my first chance to finally get away from it! (Luna)*she runs her fingers along the binding of the books.Trying to look for the book she needs. Her auburn hair is free and not held back by the purple ribbon. She stpos however when someone talks about a life full of lonelieness and pain thinking that it sounds familiar enough to her. She leaves her hand resting on the book she was going to pull out.* ~it seems there are others out there as well..~ *she pulls out the book she needs and walks out of the aisle looking over to the girl who was speaking. * ~pity..it's a Slytherin.~ *she notices that Hawkins is talking to her and realizes how much the students do talk to him. She stands just outside the aisle looking over at the two for a moment* (procedes to wander out and talk with Jinx) I know enough child, My parents were killed by Death Eaters, and I lost someone close to a dark wizard I know all about emptiness Melody more then you could know, Your parents are gone Melody they are not coming back from where they are, I am trying my best to guide you not as a Auror but as a wizard, a wizard who knows a great deal about this matter, I am sorry that others have treated you badly because of your name, but I have not if you recall *He looked at her* They may be your friends, but search your heart and think, Look at men like Dumbledore, he is the greatest wizard of the age and the most reveared do you wish to know why because he values life, he does not care about who you are where you come from or wether your blood is pure or not, he cares about people, be it Muggle or Wizard, that is what makes him great not his power but his ability to care, can you tell me that people like Draco Malfoy think along thoes same lines You hate the Death Eaters because they took your parents from you. ~*She said slowly.*~ Maybe before you ask me to trust your judgment too much you should remember just who took MY parents from me. ~*She began to gather up her books, wanting to get away from his constant barrage before some of it made her begin to doubt the new happiness she'd found. He was starting to get through and she didn't like it one bit.*~ Exactly, They are my friends. And I should be loyal to them, to my new family! I was sorted into Slytherin and it is a thing I can not change, so I have to- have to.. ~*friends. except they weren't really. She knew that. One didn't have friends in Slytherin, not like the other houses. Only people who used you.*~ have to be loyal.. ~*the tears now beginning to escape one by one down her cheeks as she continued to try and stack her books. But somewhere along the way she made the mistake of looking up at him, and was caught there as he went on with that most telling, pointed question about Draco. Almost in spite of herself she found herself answering*~ No.. ~*a small sob shaking her.*~ He doesn't.. ~*As she'd suddenly pull her gaze away and say stubbornly, with the tears still flowing*~ But Trevor... ~*even he, she couldn't truly say.. could she?*~ I have no one else. ~*Was the bare, terrible truth.*~ *He stood up and walked over to her and looked at her, she was like a lost child, he gently wrapped his arms around her and hugged her* Family Melody, are thoes that care about you, who will not put there goals above you or use you for there benefit, yes you are a Slytherin, but there have been many good wizards that have come from Slythrin house not all of the think the same way as Draco and others, the believe in people and friendship, and *He looked at her* You have me, I have never sought to judge you for what your parents have done, I look at what you have done, yes we all have made wrong turns, but the point is at the end where we come, I will do my best to be there when you need me Melody, you can come to me for any reason I will be there, that is a promise (Liam)*Wandering the halls was rather interesting when no one was around, almost as if the walls were listening to one's footsteps, whispering to each other about the poor fool wandering around alone, and so he just made no sound at all as he moved. It was easier when one had so many years of practice at being silent and unnoticed despite flaming hair and oddly purple eyes. The eyes were easy to cover with shaggy hair, but the hair itself was a problem that couldn't really be avoided. But he was used to that by now, and with so many other red-heads making trouble about the school, it was easier in a way. His dark eyes peered around the next corner, and lingered on the lights of the library. Who would be in the library at this hour?* ~*She stiffened at the hug, having no clue how to receive the gesture and he the last person in the world she had expected it from. Slowly, she looked up at him, sniffling pathetically as she queried in an almost pleading voice*~ But Trevor.. he could be one of those then right? ~*Fanatical follower of the Malfoys that he was. But she just wasn't willing to give up on him. And of course the subject of Jinx hadn't even been broached.*~ Right? ~*Almost begging his permission to keep him. Draco she was willing to give up on. Not even noticing the other students in the library through her blurry vision for her focus on this conversation.*~ *He looked at her* Melody look inside, if you have spent a great deal of time with him you will know the truth for yourself about how he really is, then you have to make that choice *He looked at her and gave her a smile* Trust your heart Melody, a wise told me that understanding comes from the heart, trust in that and you can never go wrong *He looked at her* I ment what I said, You are not alone I am here and will be here if you need me, we are the same in away both have lost our parents and both are very much alone in this world, think on that. *he slipped into the library after the house elf, glancing around quickly and then again a bit more slowly to see if he recognized anyone before moving towards a certain section of shelves, doing a double-take at Melody and the stranger and hesitating* ~*She'd had all the direct eye contact she could take, not one for such thing in prolonged measure, and felt a little of the horrible weight of this all leave her when she turned her eyes back to her now stacked books.*~ I understand.. ~*Though there should have been little doubt to anyone that she would decide in his favor. Still far to loyal to the boy to consider thoughts against him. She really hadn't liked Draco much from the start, though in time his father would almost surely become an issue.*~ I..*Still not looking up at him, nor those around her with that fixedness on the table*~ I will remember that, thank you. ~*Watching as yet more spots of water fell to the shining surface and wetted the library books.*~ *He smiled at her as he turned and looked at the house Elf* Quiet alright little friend, *He looked up and saw a figure* You can come out now, I don't bite and i doubt the Elf does either *Dobby's eyes go wide as the Auror suggests he might bite* Oh no sir, Dobby would never bite a Wizard! *he showed no surprise as he stepped slowly into the light, giving the older man a good look and his eyes narrowed slightly* Is there something wrong? *he asked, though it was directed at them both, since he noticed Melody looking rather upset, but he couldn't tell if it was because of the Auror or because of something she was talking to the Auror about* ~*She gasped as she suddenly realized where she was having this little breakdown, and tried to wipe at the tears on her face though more replaced them. She looked up long enough to see who was witnessing this spectacle, almost missing the house else because of his short stature until he actually spoke, and then flushing in embarrassment when she saw Liam. She didn't know which was worse. Someone she knew or someone she didn't.*~ Everything? Nothing.. I don't know.. ~*She muttered in embarrassment and looked back down.*~ (Domino in conversation with Luna) "Hawkins?" Domino asked as his tone gave the indication that he suddenly seemed very interested. "And what is your relationship with Mr. Hawkins?" Luna might not have been aware of it, but Domino was heading straight for the library. Within a few minutes, they were at the room's entrance, and it was there that Domino saw Dobby, Hawkins, and Melody. "Well, speak of the devil," Domino muttered under his breath. "Oh, Melody dear," Domino called out to the young girl in a friendly tone of voice. "Is everything all right?" ~*Her head shot up at the sound of the voice which she worshipped secondly only to Trevor, and perhaps in some ways gave her more comfort, for Domino had never offered her reason to fear his disapproval, never demanded with cold eyes. She pushed back her chair and literally ran across the room, throwing her arms around the teaching assistant and just burying her face in his robes. She sobbed something which was completely lost in the folds of cloth, and waved her hand back in the direction of the auror, the house elf, and the Ravenclaw.*~ i am sure you would like to know Domino..*she walks in with Domino into the library to the scene she saw earlier. Her eyes focus on Hawkins for a moment watching him as he moves. Then looking over to the girl that seems to have been crying at one point. She doesn't say much but whispers slightly beneath her breath* i am nothing to him.. *he raised an eyebrow slightly at the Auror... it must be Hawkins from his mother's descriptions of the man... and then looked back at Melody* I... *how did one ask a girl to share some icecream and a few jokes to make her stop crying, and yet not be really awkward about it?? but then she was up and flying at some other person, and he stepped back a bit, trying not to look disappointed* Seeing Melody upset pulled heavily on Domino's emotions. He felt a great weight fill his heart. His lungs, constricted somehow, burned with fire as an uncontrollable anger suddenly swept through him. Domino hadn't been aware of it before, but Melody was precious to him. Kneeling down and wrapping Melody up in his arms, Domino patted the young girl's back for a moment. But as his anger became more and more prevalent, his gaze eventually turned cold and spiteful. Animosity was all he had for Hawkins now. "Damn, Auror..." he muttered under his breath, but restrained himself from saying anything further. Standing to his feet as he allowed Melody to continued to hold onto him, Domino reached out and took a hold of Luna's clothing. Pulling her close to him, his gaze was both cruel and malicious. Needless to say, he was finding it very difficult to restrain himself from going over there and killing Hawkins. "You will tell me everything you know about Hawkins. I would like to say you don't have a choice on the matter, but you do. However, if you refuse to acknowledge my request, you will find yourself in quite a grave situation. Take those papers you just handed me, for instance... it would be a shame if they never really reached Snape's desk." *he watched the new person and felt slightly uneasy with the way he looked at the Auror... but perhaps it was just because the one blamed the other for upsetting Melody... he just waited* ~*She calmed fairly quickly there in Jinx's arms, her breathing growing more regular as he in essence sheltered her from all the terrible truths the auror had been forcing her to face. It seemed they dealt in terrible truths didn't they? She finally calmed herself enough that she was willing to look out from that safety, though not leave it, and back to see that the man had gone. Probably not wanting to be associated with such a precarious crowd. She looked embarrassedly at the Ravenclaw again, and said quietly to him while still leaning against Jinx*~ So you probably think I'm a total psycho now don't you? ~*To say nothing of the fact that she knew his own family was in the same line of work as Hawkins and he might therefore be likely to wonder what the man had had to say to her.*~ *dobby nodded his head, a smile on his face, he tugged lightly on Melody's robes* Can dobby do anything for you Miss Melody? I would be happy to. *she stares him directly back in the eye* i don't take threats Domino..and i can very well do those papers over again..now..you can be nice...or i can be just as mean. *her eyes flash slightly as she look at him* i will tell you nothing of him.. *she looks down at the woman. Watching the exchange between the two. Finding..at least one weakness of his. * i'd say we're on common ground..*she looks at Melody not feeling sorry for her now that she sees she has quite a bit more friends around her then her thick head believes* Mel: Sighing softly, Domino forced himself to take it down a notch. He was getting too worked up in front of everyone. Running his fingers through his hair, Domino glanced down at Melody and offered her a kind smile. He didn't say anything at first. In fact, his smile slowly started to fade within the next few moments. It became very apparent then, that Domino wasn't going to let this go unpunisheed. Hawkins would pay severally for his medalling. "We need to have a talk," Domino said down to Melody. "Would you like to go to my office or grab a bite to eat in the kitchen maybe?" *he heard the offer and winced inwardly with a sigh, Melody obviously felt more comfortable around the new stranger, and he obviously cared quite a bit about her... he shifted slightly, getting ready to move away slowly and escape the awkwardness he felt for the first time in... a very long while* ~*She gave a tiny, forced smile to the house elf, one hand still clenched in Domino's robe like a small child clutched to the leg of their parent.*~ I- ~*taking a deep shuddering breath as she tried again.*~ I'll be all right. ~*eyes turning up to Domino when he'd address her, and she asked insecurely*~ Can Liam come with us? ~*Indicating that she did know the Ravenclaw boy and at least had some kind of connection with him. It was one she wanted to keep, and she was afraid if she just let him walk away now he might never speak to her again. Or worse yet, say things she didn't want to hear when he did.*~ *she smiles respectively towards Domino* have a nice evening sir..*she leans down slightly to look at Melody* cheer up..you have friends and people who care about you..just open your eyes and take the blindfold off..*she nods to her slightly and moves off down the hallway* ~*She blinked at the address from Domino's umm err.. friend? associate? She wasn't quite sure any more.*~ Uh thank you.. ~*still staring after her a moment as she walked off, before she'd look up at Domino and assure him*~ If you want to go after her, I'll be okay. ~*Feeling rather guilty since she was sure her barging in on them the instant he entered the room had something to do with this.*~ Mel&Liam:
Domino looked to the young lad. The boy appeared to be one of the few
students at Hogwart's who seemed sane and responsible. This found much
favor with Domino. "Of course, Melody," Domino replied before he
introduced himself to Liam. "My name is Domino Jinx, now, if you two will
follow me..
